Targeted towards the modern nomad and global traveller, whether from back of the car glamping to breaking your own trail, our products are designed to enhance your experience along the way.

As hammock enthusiasts for the last 10 years we have watched hammocks go from a niche product to a common item we see today in parks, college campuses, on the trail and in campgrounds. It is simply amazing to see how many people are excited about hammocks and we are pleased to share the new line of hand crafted Overland Hammocks with you.

We started making hammocks 4 years ago in an effort to minimize the weight and simplify the hanging setup. We were going for ultralight specs, cutting every bit of extra fabric, finding smaller and smaller cordage to use, light weight webbing and titanium hardware. Ultimately we ended up with a hammock that had all of these features but we still were not completely satisfied, so we kept working. We have tried many of the systems that are out there and were unhappy with having to use clunky hardware so we set out on a quest to eliminate the hardware. Through many months of research, trial and error, we landed on a solution that was inspired by several solutions found on Hammock Forums, combining the best of what this small but active and innovative community was excited about.

We have iterated over many designs and arrived at the lightweight Overland Hammock. We have been working on the design of this particular hammock for the last 3 years, multiple variations and construction methods, different fabrics, cords and webbing;  pushing the boundaries of how lightweight a hammock we could make that would still be durable yet easy to setup

We custom make our products to the highest quality standards so they are built to last. Each hammock comes with a two month full refund or replacement guarantee if you are not completely satisfied.

The Overland Difference

You might be wondering how this is different than the rest of the hammocks out there. There are a couple of key differences that set us apart from the field, the shape, the materials, the adjustable suspension, the hammock skins and the how the full system works together. Our system has everything you will need to hang between two trees whether that be in a park in the city or next to a river deep in the woods. The tree straps and the suspension are included with the hammock.

We realize there are different type of people out there and their need and desires when it comes to hammocks are just as varied. With this in mind we have three hammocks a general lightweight hammock, an ultralight minimal hammock and an insulated hammock for those who want to camp overnight in their hammock.

We have nice curves

Lightweight comfort is our primary focus with the Overland Hammocks. We experimented over the years to find the right balance between the length and the width to allow you to lay flat.

To achieve the lightest hammock that provides amazing comfort, we have cut the sides of the hammock along a curve which removes the extra fabric that gets in the way of your view and flaps around in the breeze.  The gathered end of this hammock has a outward, convex curve which provides a deeper bucket/sag for you to lay in achieving an amazingly comfortable hang.

We are tree huggers

Our tree straps are simple, functional and tree safe. As good stewards of nature and following No Trace principles, it is important that our products not damage the trees you pick to hang your hammock. To achieve this, we use 1" wide webbing which is wide enough to not damage the sensitive inner bark called cambium.

No hardware - We got rid of the multi-loop and carabiner approach as we wanted to eliminate the hardware and reduce weight.  To replace the carabiner we use a grappler hitch which is a simple stopper knot that passes through a loop to secure the strap around the tree. The 7/64" amsteel cord that used for this hitch is rated at more than 1200lbs.  So this simple system, will hold you tight for years without worrying about losing it any hardware.

Its a cinch to hang

While many hammocks come with heavy and bulky straps that weigh a half a pound or more, we designed an innovative system using a combination of ideas and field tested methods from the Hammock Forums.

The suspension is three parts combined into easy to adjust lightweight system consisting of an adjustable UCR, a structural and tarp ridgeline.

The adjustable UCR allows you to easily raise and lower the hammock or center it between the trees. Check out the setup guide to see how to adjust it.

The consistency of your comfort is important to us. Structural ridgelines set a constant amount of sag for the hammock. Hammocks without a structural ridgeline can have a slightly different sag with each hang so we felt that it was important to include with our hammocks.

Optional tarp attachment loops allow you to secure your tarp  along the structural ridgeline for a complete shelter.

We keep it tidy

The hammock skins that ship with the Overland Hammock are just one more example of the complete system. The skins pull down over the hammock when you are not using it to keep your hammock from blowing around in the wind and collecting debris. They are also helpful when you are packing it up in the stuff sack.
